For the first time in a while I feel relieved to say the least. Early this year, I decided to put my blogging on hold to focus on a few goals I needed to achieve over the summer (taking the MCAT and applying to med school). I didn't anticipate it taking this long but here I am 10 months later finally getting back on the blog. Goal setting and prioritizing is what got me to where I am now; a place of relief and accomplishment!

"Great things never came from from comfort zones"

Many of us have goals we're seeking to accomplish but don't have an actual plan set in motion. By when are you trying to achieve that goal? What distractions will you have to cut off? What sacrifices will you have to make? What changes will you have to make that may be uncomfortable? All questions that when answered will get us to our goals much quicker. For me....I had to delete social media for a while because I knew the amount of time I spent on there would be a distraction. I started saying no to going out with friends so that I could spend my off days putting in work. And trust me this was uncomfortable for me lol, for all that know me know I love to go out on the weekends and unfortunately I'm very active on social media. But those were my sacrifices and if I didn't step out of my comfort zone....well I wouldn't be here finally DONE WITH APPLICATIONS!!!

Steps To Goal Setting:

  • Write down your goals

  • Set a deadline to achieve them

  • Identify any obstacles to overcome

  • Create an action plan

  • Hold yourself accountable

Setting my goals wasn't the hard part (after all this has been a childhood dream for quite some time now), taking the necessary steps to achieve them was the struggle. So this was taking the break from social media, not going out as much, saying no to family and friends, and just being strict with myself. Not going on social media shouldn't have been as hard as it was but when avoiding the app didn't work...I just deleted the whole thing from my phone🙄 I had to miss out on a few outings with friends but they were all very understanding and supportive of me and my goals. At the end of the day, I knew that in order to get to where I wanted to be in life, I had to get my priorities together. I could either stay stagnant or start taking the steps to progress forward.

I honestly didn't know where to begin with blogging again but I remembered how much my readers valued simple life lessons. So that's why I chose this topic as my first published post back from my hiatus. I don't know where you are in life or what your specific goals are but I'm certain that prioritizing what's important to you is key. Staying motivated isn't always easy so write down those goals, limit your distractions, and stay focused. Although I had to take a break from connecting with my readers, it was needed so that I could work on building the life that I want for myself. Looking back on this year, I became a goal digger...I made sacrifices, prioritized, and got serious about what I wanted out of 2021. There's still a month left in the year so if you're looking for a sign to get started on your goals, here it is🙌

*Oh and stay tuned! I got time now and there's a lot of great content on the way so make sure you're subscribed*
