Let Your Faith Be Bigger Than Your Fear

I've been struggling with my faith for quite some time now. What does it mean to have faith anyway? I can tell you this much, based on what I've read in the bible and what I've experienced in life: Faith is believing without seeing...Faith is knowing that God sees you and hears your prayers and having the confidence that he will work everything out no matter the situation. It's easy to try and take control of a situation and it's easy to worry about situation, but what's hard is believing that God can bring you through.

This semester I took one class as a non degree seeking student. Although I already graduated with my bachelors, I needed this one class to be able to apply to medical school. I was pretty nervous to sign up because not only was I working 40 hours a week, but I was also studying for the MCAT. I honestly didn't know how I would find the time or energy to put into in this class. All I knew was that I had to pass with an A and nothing less!

My faith was definitely tested....working 8am-5pm, 5:30 lecture, studying for quizzes/exams, and studying for the MCAT was a lot. Not to mention lectures dont really teach you anything😑 so I spent hours teaching myself concepts, rewatching lectures, going to office hours, and doing practice problems. I found myself either falling asleep in lecture or studying until 2am to fall asleep at work the next day. When I was in college I didn't work for this very reason, I couldn't balance being a biology major and working full time. I didn't have a choice this time though because those bills had to get paid either way.

I did a lot of praying this semester but I also did plenty of doubting. I was anxious, frustrated, and I felt drained everyday which led to a few failed quizzes but nevertheless I kept going! My grandma always told me that worrying shows that you don't trust God to bring you out of what it is you prayed about. I mean think about it, worrying and faith are basically opposites. When you're worrying, you're thinking about everything that could go wrong but when you have faith, you're believing that everything will go right. So you can't have faith and then sit there and fret about whether the situation will work itself out or not. If you have to take a look at how far you've come and think back on everything he's brought you through, then do that. You know you've been in a hard place before but you made it out and he can do it for you again.

Let go and let God. That's exactly what I did. The battle was no longer mine, it was his. No more anxiety and no more getting frustrated. I gave it my all and then gave the rest to him. When I did just that, the A's and B's came rolling in. I spoke everything into existence, I continued to pray, and I began to see the results I wanted. I didn't know that going into the class but that's the beauty of faith; believing I would still pass despite a few bad scores. Listen, the devil will try to bring you down, after all that's his job. God didn't give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. So shake it off! Whatever it is you're trying to overcome, let go, and let God. If you feel yourself beginning to worry, start praying!!!

My fear the past couple of months was failing this class but I decided to let my faith be bigger than that. It sure did pay off because I made it through!!! The class is overrrr!!!! And not only did I pass, but I passed with an A. I really owe it all to God. This is one less obstacle in my way and one step closer to my goal. Not to mention I can get some sleep back😫Y'all that 8-5 shift was not for me 😂 back to my 9-6 I go!! I really wanted to share this blog post with my loyal readers because I knew I wasn't the only one going through something. 2020 has been a very difficult year to say the least and we've all been tried one way or another. No matter the situation, big or small, put your trust in him. As we prepare to bring in 2021 in the next couple of weeks, remember to keep the faith always! We don't always see him working but best believe he sees us and he's working it all together for our good.

Virtually Yours,

SNT
