Hey y'all I'm back with a new blog post...travel edition!!✈ I've been to many places but I wanted to start with a place I like to call home. JAMAICA. When I think of Jamaica, I think of jerk chicken on the grill, fried fish and festival, beautiful beaches, kind people, reggae music...the list could go on. I'm going to share all my favorites about traveling to JA including; places to stay, must see attractions, food, and more so let's get right into it!

Where To Stay: When traveling to Jamaica, I like to stay at all inclusive resorts/hotels so that I don't have to worry about individually paying for my food and drinks. Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril are the most popular towns so if you're more of an air bnb/villa traveler, then you'll want to look in those areas. With Negril being on the west side of the island, further away from Montego Bay an Ocho Rios, I've never been there. So here I'll list my favorite all inclusive resorts in Mobay and Ochi:

  • Royalton Blue Waters (Montego Bay)

Royalton was such a great experience and located in the heart of Montego Bay. Let's start with the food...AMAZING and I'm not even exaggerating. Most assume food on resorts aren't authentic, well this place gets an exception. My favorite would have to be their brown stew goat, rice and peas, and their ackee! Drinks were another thing, very good and STRONG. The entertainment was nice as well; plenty of live shows throughout the day and night. They also had a "club" on the resort that was open late and they played good music. The rooms were beautiful, staff was nice, and it was a vibe overall.

  • RIU Hotel (Ocho Rios)

Another great resort to stay at would be RIU. I spent my birthday there last year and was definitely impressed! The food was good, not as good as Royalton but it was still satisfying! The entertainment here was soooo good too, they didn't have a "club" on the resort but their entertainers made up for that. They also have this hotel in Montego Bay if you decide to stay there. I would have to say, my favorite thing about this resort was the entertainment.

Other all inclusive resorts:

  • Beaches (Family friendly)

  • Sandals (Adult only)

What To Do: There's so much to do on the island of Jamaica so you're guaranteed to find something for everyone to enjoy. However, depending on what part of Jamaica you're staying in, some of these attractions may be a far or close in distance. If you're up for the drive, there are taxi services readily available and the resorts/hotels can provide you with their information.

  • Enjoy the refreshing climb up Dunn's River Falls

  • Experience hiking and the waterfalls of Blue Hole

  • Go for a swim in YS Falls

  • Zipline and go bobsled racing at Mystic Mountain

  • Swim with dolphins at Dolphin Cove

  • Horseback riding on the beaches

  • Bamboo rafting on Martha Brae River

  • White Water Rafting in Falmouth

  • Relax in Blue Lagoon

What to Eat: EAT EVERYTHING. Just kidding lmao😂 but you're going to want to eat everything, that's for sure. We already know you're going to be fed well if you're staying on a resort. However, in between excursions when you're actually out and about in Jamaica, here are some good food spots where you can really experience the taste of Jamaica.

  • Tastee Patty

  • Juici Patties

  • Scotchies

  • Chill Out Hut

  • Gloria's Seafood

  • Devon House

  • Pier 1

Whether you're on the resort or at one of the local restaurants here in JA, you can't forget to try our most popular dishes: ackee and saltfish, jerk chicken, fried dumpling, festival, oxtail, curry goat, and escovitch fish just to name a few.

Well there you have it! Jamaica should now be on your list of places to travel for 2022. If you've already been but missed out on one of the resorts, excursions, or restaurants I've listed...all the more reason to book that flight again😇 Jamaica is always a good time, and granted I may be biased with my parents being from there and me traveling there from the age of 2...however, it never disappoints!
